During the Summer Solstice, when the sun is in the sky the longest, Lusticrates go through the reproductive phase of their lives. During this day, the microbes split into three and begin to fill with TRads and become Lusticrenes. These "infant" Lusticrenes are capable of holding so much power that they visibly glow and can be seen by the naked eye. On this day, the sky is filled with so many of these infant organisms that it appears almost like a brilliant, glowing snowfall all across the planet.
All harvesting machines and distillation plants are shut down on this day in order to allow the Lusticrates to reproduce without issue. It is widely discouraged to do any sort of work with Aether on the Solstice.
Thanis-Rochim Radiation
Thanis-Rochim Radiation (so named for Beauregard Thanis and Sanin Rochim, the scholarly duo that discovered the phenomenon) is the energetic power that radiates from the star of the _________ System. Thanis-Rochim Radiation (TRads) and its creation process is still largely a mystery to the academic community. There are theories as to what process within the star generates TRads though there is not really any known way to test them. The leading theory is that TRads are a by product of the same process by which the sun generates heat and light. The second most widespread theory is that the sun, and by extension all other stars, are largely made up of Pure Aether (a theoretical substance that is a stable, homogenous "solution" of all of the Aspects) which fuels the process of creating heat and light and, in so doing, decays into the Aspects.
Lusticrates to Lusticrenes: The Power Within
AURNS
Lusticrates rise through the atmosphere to the Lustauric Sphere where they absorb TRads. When they absorb enough TRads, they become to dense to float and descend through the atmosphere.
Aurns are the units by which Aether is measured. A single Aurn is the amount held by a mature Lusticrene. (juvenile Lusticrenes can actually hold up to 10 Aurns, depending on how high up in the atmosphere they are harvested)
1 Aurn = 4.9 TRads
AURNIC RATIOS
An Aurnic Ratio (ARto) is the amount of Aurns that it requires to innitiate an Aetheric Reaction (magical effect). Once the ARto is mixed, it can be stored elsewhere and drawn into the proper core in small doses or divided into vials for ease of carrying. The solution does not lose potency for being portioned out
For Machining
- Motion: ARto = 75,422 An
- Anchoring: ARto = 96,148 An
- Consumption: ARto = 125,576 An
- Transformation: ARto = 125,576 An
- Joining: ARto = 96,148 An
- Force: ARto = 75,422 An
Tertiary Aspect ARto = A + B + C
A: 1st primary aspect
B: 2nd primary aspect
C: 3rd primary aspect
For Potionry
- Motion: ARto = 7,542 An
- Anchoring: ARto = 9,614 An
- Consumption: ARto = 1,255 An
- Transformation: ARto = 1,255 An
- Joining: ARto = 9,614 An
- Force: ARto = 7,542 An
Secondary Aspect ARto = A + B
*A: 1st primary aspect
B: 2nd primary aspect
1,440,000 aurns per square mile
10,000 aurns = 1 Caurn
1 Caurn = 1 litre of liquid
